Affamé, le chat du lac de Lausanne se rue sur le roi Arthur

Starving, the cat of lake Lausanne rushes towards King Arthur

La petite histoire :

Alors qu’Arthur mène une campagne militaire contre l’armée de Rome qui lui réclame un tribut, Merlin lui demande d’intervenir aux abords du lac du Bourget (appelé par erreur lac de Lausanne par le narrateur). En effet, un terrible chat y sème la terreur, à tel point que la région s’est vidée de ses habitants.    
Apprenant que le chat se terre dans une grotte près d’un mont au bord du lac, Arthur s’y rend en compagnie de Gaheriet, Gauvain, Merlin et les rois Ban de Bénoïc et Lot d’Orcanie. Arrivé sur place, Arthur demande à affronter seul la bête. Un terrible combat s’ensuit, dont Arthur ressort victorieux. Arthur demande alors à ce que ce mont prenne le nom de "Mont du Chat".

The little story :

While Arthur is leading a military campaign against the army of Rome which is demanding tribute from him, Merlin asks him to intervene near lake Bourget (mistakenly called lake Lausanne by the narrator). Indeed, a terrible cat is spreading terror there, so that the region has been emptied of its inhabitants.    
Learning that the cat is hiding in a cave near a mountain on the edge of the lake, Arthur goes there in the company of Gaheriet, Gawain, Merlin and the kings Ban of Benoïc and Lot of Orcania. Arriving there, Arthur asks to face the beast alone. A terrible fight ensues, from which Arthur emerges victorious. Arthur then asks that this mountain take the name “Mont du Chat” (Cat’s Mount).
